Words of Greeting: Daniel 2:20-23
One: Praise be to the
name of God for ever and ever;
All: Wisdom and power are his.
One: He changes times
and seasons; he sets up kings and deposes them.
All: He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.
One: He reveals deep and
hidden things;
All:
He knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him.
One: I thank and praise you, O God of my
fathers:
All:
You have given me wisdom and power.
Unison Prayer of Confession: Habakkuk 2:19-20
The
question we must ask ourselves is, "In what/whom do we place our
trust?" Anything or anyone outside
of God is just foolish and ridiculous... as the prophet suggests
"Of
what value is an idol, since a man has carved it? Or an image that teaches
lies? For he who makes it trusts in his own creation; he makes idols that
cannot speak. Woe to him who says to wood, 'Come to life!' Or to lifeless
stone, 'Wake up!' Can it give guidance? It is covered with gold and silver;
there is no breath in it. But the Lord is in his holy temple; let all the earth
be silent before him." (Silent
Prayer and Reflection)
Assurance of Pardon: Ephesians 2:4-7
One: “But because of his
great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even
when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace you have been saved. And
God raised us up with Christ
and seated us with him
in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he
might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to
us in Christ Jesus.” Friends, believe the good news of the Gospel!
All:
In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.
