Words of Greeting: Jonah 2:7-9
One: When my life was ebbing away,
All: I remembered you, and my prayer rose to you, to your holy temple.
One: Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs.
All: But I, with a song of thanksgiving, will sacrifice to you.
One: What I have vowed, I will make good;
All: Salvation comes from the Lord.
Unison Prayer of Confession (Martin Luther)
“Behold, Lord, an empty vessel that needs to be filled. My Lord, fill it. I am weak in the faith; strengthen thou me. I am cold in love; warm me and make me fervent that my love may go out to my neighbor. I do not have a strong and firm faith; at times I doubt, O Lord, help me. Strengthen my faith and trust in thee. In thee I have sealed the treasures of all I have. I am poor; thou art rich, and didst come to be merciful to the poor. I am a sinner; thou art upright. With me there is an abundance of sin: in thee is the fullness of righteousness.” Forgive us, Lord, we pray. (Silent Prayer and Reflection)
Assurance of Pardon: Psalm 66:16-20
One: "Come and listen, all you who fear God; let me tell you what he has done for me. I cried out to him with my mouth; his praise was on my tongue. If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; but God has surely listened and heard my voice in prayer. Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!" Friends, believe the good news of the Gospel!
All: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.

The Minor Prophets  "Compassion Changes Everything"
Holy Communion Fellowship
·         Communion will be in the Fellowship Hall around tables.
·         Need printed liturgies, including a liturgy in Spanish.

Table Talk
All three questions do not need to be answered, nor does everyone have to say something - they are to generate and direct the conversation.
·         Share what God has done for you or in you recently - because in remembering and giving thanks we exalt God's goodness and gracious nature.
·         Share an experience when God showed compassion to you (when you received God's grace in your own life).

  • Where are we challenged to show compassion to others?
